OVERVIEW
I partnered with 482 Forward to create a series of three animated videos exposing how public school funding works in Detroit, and how systemic policies have led to ongoing underfunding.
Together, we set out to break down complex policy into clear, human stories that could resonate with families, students, and voters. The videos were designed for social media, combining narrative storytelling with accessible visuals to help people understand what’s at stake, and why it matters now.
CHALLENGE
The core challenge was making a dense, policy-heavy issue, school funding and defunding, clear, engaging, and emotionally grounded across three short videos.
Approach
Instead of explaining the system from the top down, we focused on three perspectives: a teacher, a parent, and a student. Each video tells the story of school defunding through their lived experience, what it looks like in the classroom, at home, and in a student’s daily life.
